It's been WAY too long...

It's been over 3 weeks since I've posted anything, so here's the update on our last few weeks:

Josh's company had a convention in Gulf Shores, AL at the beginning of April. My parents graciously offered to keep the girls for us so we could have a little getaway. We drove up to OKC to drop them off on a Tuesday, and left at about 5am Wednesday morning to drive 14 hours to Alabama. We went with friends of ours from OKC, and the drive really wasn't that bad.

The next morning Josh had to get up and go to meetings, so I slept in, had breakfast by myself, and wondered what to do with myself all day. I quickly figured it out :) That part of the country is beautiful. It makes me want to move to a small Alabama town and live on the water...well, maybe rent a place for the summer. It was gorgeous! We stayed at the Marriott Grand Hotel at Point Clear which was stunning. I had a massage, laid by the beach & pool, got the sunburn of a lifetime (it was cloudy & breezy and I didn't put sunscreen on!), went horseback riding, ate enough food to last me a month, and came home 4 lbs heavier! Can't beat that for a vacation, huh?! Josh was really in "work mode" most of the time, but we had a lot of fun in the evenings catching up with friends and, of course, eating and eating some more. During the day while he was in meetings I got to hang out with the other wives, some of which I only see once a year at this meeting, but I also just spent some time alone. That was very strange. No babies, no house to clean, just me. I highly recommend it! We kept reminding each other (all the women with children) that in a few days we'd be back to mopping the floor and wiping bottoms. And I am. The girls were excited to see us, and I was so glad to come home.

Back to reality. I realized that there's no in-between. One minute you're relaxed on vacation and the next minute there are 2 little munchkins running around you like crazy. I may have forgotten to mention that a few days before we left I took the girls to the doctor- kind of like a tune-up before sending them to my parents. They BOTH had ear infections (#5 for Anabelle in 4 months.) Josh and I weren't feeling so well either, and WE BOTH had sinus infections. Yes, all four of us were on antibiotics. Anyway, since we've been home I took Anabelle to an ENT to talk about putting tubes in her ears. I think we're going to go ahead and do it. He said she hears everything as if she's under water because she has fluid sitting in her ears. I'll let you all know when we end up doing that!

On a happier note, my parents came in for the weekend. We had an open house for friends & family in town and they came to help us celebrate the new house. It was so much fun and the girls had a blast with their Nana & OG. We're going to see them again this weekend in Austin. My uncle is swimming in a big swim meet down there and we're going down to watch him win :) It should be really fun to see everyone and let the cousins hang out. Hopefully I'll get some pictures of that since I didn't even take my camera out of the bag in Alabama or at the open house Saturday. Oh well. Next time.....

A style all her own

Sarabeth has been trying to prove her independence in any way she can lately. Refusing to eat, running away from us, and most recently choosing her own clothes. She found a drawer in her dresser with clothes that either don't fit her, or are the wrong season. She insisted on wearing a blue fleece jacket with a red polka-dot swimsuit, all on top of her pajamas. She was very proud of her new outfit, as she should be. Maybe I'll let her start picking out my clothes next! Ok, maybe not.

We went on a walk the other day and met some neighbors a few streets down. There were several kids out and they were playing with sidewalk chalk. Sarabeth thought it was the greatest stuff in the world, and it ended up all over her. She looked like a little football player (the cutest football player ever!) and I couldn't resist getting it on camera!
